The second event for The Fishing Crew Team of the Year schedule will move up river, launching on Lake Sharpe out of Pierre.

The Cedar Shore Resort tournament saw bite windows play a major role in the event, and anglers should expect bite windows to be just as pronounced for the Lake Sharpe event. This has fish in excellent condition, but often not willing to bite. One day, they may be snapping and the next day they may be completely inactive. The combination of current, weather conditions, and this forage has all made for a complex pattern for anglers to put together.

Overall, Lake Sharpe continues to be a walleye factory and anglers should expect plenty of fish to work through. Those that are able to find the larger slot fish, those 17-19 inches, will find themselves near the top of the leaderboard by the end of the weekend. Of course, “overs” will remain coveted and can vault a team up the leaderboard quickly!

Lake Sharpe is one of the most consistent fisheries in South Dakota, as well as the region. Anglers can expect the walleye factory to maintain production, with plenty of fish to be caught! Anglers will find the most success trolling crankbaits and pitching jigs in the spring on Lake Sharpe. Popular areas will be the stilling basin, bridges within town, and the expansive flats further downriver. A number of anglers will also likely make the run to the West Bend area.
