Capitol Lake Opens to Public Fishing

There’s a new fishery for Pierre’s residents and visitors to enjoy, with Capitol Lake officially opening for public fishing effective October 30, 2025. South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks (GFP) and Governor Larry Rhoden kicked off this new opportunity with an open house fishing event, and anglers can now enjoy this new fishery in the Pierre area.

Belle Fourche Reservoir Walleye Regulation Reminder

South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks wants to remind anglers that fishing regulations for Belle Fourche Reservoir, commonly referred to as Orman Dam, have changed.

There is a new way to support habitat conservation in South Dakota. The new Habitat Conservation License Plate was announced by Governor Larry Rhoden and South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks (GFP), and these plates are now available for South Dakota residents.
