The deadline to apply for the 2025 Lake Francis Case Paddlefish season is quickly approaching. Applications must be received by Monday, February 10, 2025, at 8 a.m. CT.
The 2025 Lake Francis Case Paddlefish season is May 1-31. This season is open for South Dakota residents only, and anglers may attempt to harvest paddlefish by snagging or archery. There are 500 resident licenses available, with the cost of the license $30.
Fishing is open on Lake Francis Case and the White River east of the Highway 47 bridge. However, no paddlefish snagging or archery from the face of the Big Bend Dam to the chain link fence approximately 350 yards from the face of the dam.
Anglers over the age of 18 that successfully obtain a paddlefish license are also required to purchase a traditional fishing license as well. Youth under the age of 18 do not need a general fishing license, just their paddlefish license.
Paddlefishing is a unique opportunity that is available on Lake Francis Case, which features ample trophy caliber fish and also holds the state record at 127 pounds.
