Preference points for major South Dakota big game and other limited draw seasons are currently available for purchase.
Preference point purchase is available September 15 to December 15. Hunters may purchase preference points for every season they are eligible for and did not successfully draw a license nor obtain a preference point with their unsuccessful application. Hunters are limited to one preference point per season each year.
Hunters aged 10 and older are eligible to purchase a preference point for big game seasons, and there is no age minimum for paddlefish seasons.
Preference points are $5 for residents and $20 for nonresidents. Preference points may be purchased through Go Outdoors South Dakota.
