About The Fishing

Pierre sits on two spectacular fisheries, Lake Oahe and Lake Sharpe, and offers excellent walleye fishing throughout the entire year. In the fall of 2023, Lake Oahe produced not one, but two state record walleyes in a six-week period. Lake Sharpe is known as a numbers fishery, with numerous 15-18 inch fish to keep anglers busy all day long.

About The Guide

Nick is originally from Gretna, Nebraska, where he began fishing eastern Nebraska reservoirs for largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie and channel catfish. When not fishing these lakes, he was on the road chasing walleye, smallmouth bass, northern pike and muskie across South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota and Ontario or deer hunting.

Nick attended South Dakota State University where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences and minored in Rangeland Ecology and Management. While attending school, he targeted walleye across the Glacial Lakes region of South Dakota.

Nick opened Lip Ripper Fishing in May 2019 and began offering guided fishing trips on the Missouri River reservoirs of Lake Sharpe, Lake Oahe, and Lake Francis Case based out of Pierre, South Dakota. He calls the Missouri River home and his education and experience make him a very versatile angler!
