I had a little bit of fun at my expense in The October Story, but in all seriousness it was a great event!

I want to give a huge congratulations to Justin Parliament. Justin got on an awesome bite and absolutely dialed it in. He found crappie suspended out deep and the nice walleyes were right there with them. Pulling crankbaits on leadcore he was able to replicate the forage and just continue to put nice fish in the boat day after day.

As the month went on more boats tried to figure out what he was doing, but he had it so dialed it that didn’t impact him one bit. Keeping on fish for three weeks is really impressive and even when they finally moved shallow on him he adjusted and was right back on them. You earned it Justin, awesome work.

I should also note Justin’s original plan was to fish the Missouri River. After a tough trip, he quickly called an audible and was on fish the next day back over east. Smart move sir!

There were two other really good anglers that were sidelined more than they were hoping. Wade Hiller’s achilles heel was…..well his achilles heel. Wade wouldn’t let that stop him, he was still wrestling around and managed to pull 22.04lbs. If that’s not a warrior right there I don’t know what is.

Clint Carda was the victim of some poor timing. It took three years to get a building permit to put his garage up and of course it comes in October. By my count that’s 36 months and of course it’s this one. 1/36 chance I guess, eh. Hey, life happens!

Overall, I couldn’t have been more impressed with this group of anglers. We were faced with horrible weather three out of the four weekends, a ridiculous amount of forage on the Missouri River system and of course life’s every day challenges. Heck even a surgery!

I want to thank every member of Walleye Warrior for letting me participate. I had a ton of fun (ok well the format was fun) and met a bunch of new people. Thank you again and congratulations to every angler who fished the event.

Good fishing,

Nick
