Fall fishing is underway and the bite is getting better and better! Cooler temperatures have got the wheels in motion for some really fun fishing!

Lake Sharpe

Lake Sharpe hasn’t made the fishing report for sometime, but expect that to change this week! The Propst Professional Anglers have been finding some great success fishing below the dam in Pierre.

The best fishing has been found near weeds adjacent to that deeper water. Fishing tight to the weeds has been picking up the best fish and they are indeed nice! Many of the fish are in that 17-19 inch range.

The best presentation has been bottom bouncing with Mack’s Lure Smile Blades. Thoroughly working specific areas has been key to make the better fish go.

Lake Francis Case

Fishing on Lake Francis Case is beginning to pick up as well. The shore anglers below the dam have been starting to catch some fish and fishing the more conventional fall patterns can produce as well.

Francis Case can feature an excellent bite fishing many of the pillars in town at Chamberlain. As fall rolls along, this bite is going to pick up more and more.

Remember, it is critical to make sure you’re pulling your boat and live well plugs every time you leave the lake. The presence of zebra mussels has been detected in Lake Sharpe and both Sharpe and Case have been listed as containment waters. Wherever you’re fishing it is on all of us to make sure we’re pulling those plugs!

Eastern South Dakota

The bite is beginning to pick up on the eastern South Dakota lakes too! Chris Seylar has officially began his fall fishing in the Glacial Lakes region and he’s off to a dang good start!

Chris has been taking advantage of the evening bite on those shallow feeding flats. This time of year, fall fishing from shore can be very streaky, but when the bite is good it can be very good. Hit those high percentage areas and you may hit the benefits!

Happy Birthday Hannah!

I want to give a special birthday shoutout to Hannah Kast! If you look closely, you’ll see that my cake is a walleye and Hannah’s is a girl actually catching a fish. This may be because while I think about walleyes, Hannah actually catches them!

We’ll see how Hannah does this weekend if she can out fish me again. Time will tell!

The fall bite is just ramping up and by all accounts we’re looking at some really good fishing these next few weeks. We’ll continue to keep checking our top spots listed in last week’s Fall Fishing Forecast and hopefully keep reporting on the great fishing there is to be had!
