Roy Lake State Park is located in northeast South Dakota near Lake City. Quietly situated in the Glacial Lakes region, Roy Lake offers fantastic bluegill fishing, slab crappies, an under the radar walleye fishery, large smallmouth bass, and plenty of northern pike to provide action all day long. Roy Lake State Park sits in a quiet location right on the water and makes for the perfect lakeside getaway!
What Makes Roy Lake State Park a Destination?
Roy Lake State Park offers easy access to Roy Lake, a spectacular panfish fishery, two campgrounds, six modern cabins, and six hotel-style suites. Find out what makes Roy Lake State Park one of our favorite destinations, in Destination: Roy Lake State Park.

What Makes the Fishing so Good?
Roy Lake offers incredible bluegill fishing. While walleye and yellow perch steal the show for much of the Glacial Lakes region of South Dakota, there are some excellent panfish opportunities present as well. The spectacular bluegill and crappie fishing flies under the radar and makes for an action-packed day out on the water! Learn all about this opportunity in Bluegills of Northeast South Dakota.

What Other Species Are There to Catch?
Roy Lake is overall a tremendous multispecies fishery. While the bluegills and crappie steal the show, the lake offers a strong population of northern pike, quality smallmouth bass, and quietly good walleye fishing too. We explored all of these opportunities in September 2024, learn all about it in Early Fall Multispecies Madness at Roy Lake State Park.
