The 2026 South Dakota Governor’s Bass Cup will take place June 6-7. This event is hosted by The Fishing Crew and launches out of Spring Creek Recreation Area north of Pierre.

“The smallmouth bass fishing on Lake Oahe is truly incredible,” said Nick Harrington, Owner of Lip Ripper Fishing. “When it comes to both quality and quantity of bass it’s truly a spectacular fishery.”

This will be the fifth year of the Governor’s Bass Cup, which allows anglers to fish anywhere on Lake Oahe on one tank of gas. Anglers weigh six fish and this is a catch-and-release tournament.

“Every year I hear from anglers that the bass fishing on Lake Oahe is our best kept secret,” concluded Harrington. “I’d encourage any bass angler to come give it a try, you won’t regret it!”
