The Cedar Shore Resort Walleye Tournament is set to take place April 11-12, 2026. This event is hosted by The Fishing Crew and fishes out of Cedar Shore Resort on Lake Francis Case near Chamberlain.
“The Chamberlain area is the most popular spot for spring walleye fishing in South Dakota,” said Nick Harrington, Owner of Lip Ripper Fishing. “This event always starts the season off well, and is one anglers won’t want to miss.”
Anglers launch out of Cedar Shore Resort Marina and can fish anywhere on the reservoir between Big Bend Dam and the Highway 44 Bridge near Platte.
“You can make the run to Platte or you can just bounce over to Pontoon Bay,” continued Harrington. “Really there’s great fishing to be had throughout the entire boundary, which makes for a fun tournament.”
For the second year, this event will feature two days of fishing instead of one.
“Cedar Shore Resort will again be a two-day event for this year,” said Curt Underhill, Tournament Director for The Fishing Crew. “This will be the weekend following Easter, to ensure everyone is able to spend time with family and friends over that holiday.”
This is the first event of the season for The Fishing Crew, which includes Sharpe Showdown and the South Dakota Governor’s Cup.
“Early spring fishing you always hope for favorable weather, because you know the fishing is going to be good if the weather cooperates,” concluded Harrington. “As I said though, there’s great fishing right outside Cedar Shore Resort so no matter what hand Mother Nature deals you can expect to find good fishing somewhere on the reservoir.”
