Canadian fishing trips are special, and for many of us the aura of fishing in Canada is what sets these trips apart from the rest. There are numerous fantastic destinations across the Midwest, but there’s just something about crossing the border and fishing in Canadian waters that means more than a traditional fishing trip.
What takes these Canadian fishing trips to the next level is a fantastic destination, and North Shore Lodge on Eagle Lake fits the bill. Eagle Lake in itself is a phenomenal, and unique, fishery that features world class walleye and musky fishing. North Shore Lodge sits on the northeast side of the fishery and provides both a quiet location to relax and enjoy the spectacular fishing on this side of the lake.
The resort sits directly on the shoreline, and many of the cabins offer a spectacular view of the lake. The main lodge overlooks the marina and serves as a central location for anglers to check in and get everything they need for their stay. The marina serves as a central location for both camp boats and personal boats to dock, fuel, and stock up on fresh bait.

Anglers can customize their stay and have the option to either bring their own boat or rent a boat from camp. The camp boats are quality, 18-foot Crestliners, with a reliable 50 horsepower Yamaha tiller. This combines to provide both a safe ride, adequate space for anglers, and the ability to both troll crankbaits and back troll effectively.
The boats are also equipped with all the necessary electronics, including a bowmount trolling motor and a Garmin graph. A livewell helps keep fish fresh, and adequate rod storage ensures a safe ride for your best set ups. Large front compartments also mean there is plenty of space to store tackle and still have a clean fishing deck to enhance fishing abilities.

Know Before You Go:
Eagle Lake is a largely unmapped waterbody and many hazards are present along the lake. Large rocks, long points, and shallow reefs all present hazards for boaters.
Anglers should visit with resort staff prior to venturing out on the waterbody to learn the safest travel corridors and where the most prominent hazards are present. Paying attention to your map is a must at all times when navigating the fishery, both on plane and at trolling speeds both.
Eagle Lake is truly a world class fishery, and offers spectacular walleye and musky fishing. Notably, there is an abundance of fish in the system, while still offering the top end trophy potential that can be expected of a top Canadian destination.
There is a strong number of walleyes between 14-18 inches, which present the perfect “shore lunch” opportunities. These will keep anglers busy all day long and provide an excellent numbers fishing opportunity.

While too big to keep for lunch based on lake regulations, 18-24 inch walleyes are an exciting option for anglers looking to target bigger fish. There is no shortage of these in the fishery, and present a fantastic catch and release opportunity for anglers looking to target quality walleyes.

While these are extremely quality walleyes, the potential for true trophies is always present too. Fish greater than 30 inches are not a rare occurrence, and anglers always have the opportunity to hook into the walleye of a lifetime when they are on Eagle Lake. These fish are large, well fed and big bodied specimens, and will no doubt be a lifelong memory when they enter the boat!

As great as the walleye fishing is, the musky fishing is what attracts many anglers to Eagle Lake. The chance at a trophy musky is always present as well.

Anglers should plan to bring their own gear to use out on the water.
Anglers wishing to fish on their own can do so as well, and there is plenty of helpful advice offered by the resort staff as they want you to be successful and have fun!
