We are nearing the midpoint of the Tuesday Night Walleye Fishing League season, and the strong start continues with another Top Five finish, this time bringing home 2nd place!
“Heading into Week Four I was feeling extremely confident on the bite I was on, and felt 7 pounds was an extremely achievable goal,” said Nick Harrington, Owner of Lip Ripper Fishing. “In the first ten minutes we had two 17 inchers in the box, reeled up and went right through them again and caught another 15 ½, 16 ½, and another 17.”
The bite was indeed that fast, which set up the unique situation that with another 2 hours of fishing only three more fish could go in the box after the hot start.
“We weigh our best five and can have our full two-man limit of eight in the boat, which means we have three to work with,” continued Harrington. “This means that the next goal became to catch one bigger than our two smallest, in this case that was 15 ½ and 16 ½.”
These next two fish came quickly, with a pair of 17 inchers coming in quick order.
“At this point, I slowed things down and weighed all the fish we had in the box and equated to about 7 pounds,” detailed Harrington. “This meant the rest of the night was focused on catching fish for the Midwest Walleye Challenge and hoping to get a big one.”
The big one never came in the blue tiller, but it did for Cam Lahndorf and Tyler Friederes. Cam caught a 22 incher on one cast, then followed it up with a 26 incher on the next cast.
“I’m extremely proud of the bag we put together, the bite was awesome, and the fishing was a ton of fun,” stated Harrington. “When you’re on Lake Sharpe with a limit of 17 inchers, and another boat catches two awesome fish like that you, just tip your hat and congratulate them!”
Anchored by the 6.80 pounder, Frideres and Lahndorf weighed 13.80 pounds to give them their second win of the season.
“We ultimately weighed 7.2 pounds, the game plan and execution was flawless,” concluded Harrington. “Congratulations to Cam and Tyler, that’s a special night anywhere, especially on Lake Sharpe!”
