The 2025 Cedar Shore Resort Walleye Tournament is set for April 12-13. This event is hosted by The Fishing Crew and Cedar Shore Resort and launches on to Lake Francis Case out of Chamberlain

Chamberlain is the epicenter of early spring walleye fishing, and each year plays host to numerous events throughout April and into May,” said Nick Harrington, Owner of Lip Ripper Fishing. “The Cedar Shore Resort tournament is tradition for many anglers, and each year presents a unique event.”

The combination of early season weather, timing of ice-out, and spawn sets for a unique stage each spring. Anglers can expect something new every year, which keeps the tournament challenging and exciting.

These early season challenges ultimately cancelled Day One of the 2024 event, with temperatures in the 40s and wind gusts exceeding 50 mph. When the field finally was able to take to the water, it was Randy Zeman and Zach Kenobbie that took home the win with 14.18 pounds.

“Last year the weather was extreme,” continued Harrington. “We saw snowstorms in pre-fish with massive winds to follow. The entire reservoir turned to mud, and it really didn’t showcase what early season fishing can be like in Chamberlain.”

The weather resulted in only 39 teams bringing a five-fish limit in 2024, which makes anglers hopeful for better weather and a better bite for the 2025 event.

“There is always the potential to see some really big bags if conditions align,” concluded Harrington. “Hopefully we have a better event this year, and a thank you to Cedar Shore Resort for hosting, The Fishing Crew for organizing, and all the sponsors that make this event possible.”
