The 2026 Tom and Matt Hill Memorial Walleye Tournament will take place on Saturday, July 11.

The event will launch out of West Whitlock Recreation Area with fishing on Lake Oahe

“West Whitlock offers some of the best fishing on Lake Oahe,” said Nick Harrington, Owner of Lip Ripper Fishing. “This is probably the best place to catch a trophy walleye at any given time.”

One of these trophy walleyes showed up last year when Darrell Peters landed a 14 pound 8 oz fish to anchor a 30 pound bag for the victory.

“The Tom and Matt Hill Memorial Walleye Fishing Tournament is our favorite team tournament of the year,” wrote Peters in a Facebook post following the event. “Lots of work year-round and behind the scenes to make it happen, so thanks to all of you.”

The tournament is dedicated to Thomas and Matthew Hill, who were born and raised in Volga, South Dakota and enjoyed all types of hunting and fishing.

“I can personally attest this is one of the best tournaments that will take place in South Dakota,” concluded Harrington. “This is one you’ll want to fish for many reasons.”
