The 2025 Midwest Walleye Challenge in South Dakota is nearing completion! The event wraps up June 29, 2025. As the days close out, the leaderboard continues to be open in terms of biggest walleye, which can change at any moment with one big bite!

The current leaderboard for big walleye is as follows:

  • Stephen Hettick 29 inches
  • Herbert Leuthe 28 inches
  • Silas Simonson 27.2 inches
  • Tom Wanttie 27 inches
  • Hunter Halverson 26.5 inches
  • Brock Bahr 26.3 inches
  • Quinn Simonson 26.3 inches
  • Jake Case 26 inches
  • Andrew McDonald 25.2 inches

The current leaderboard for most walleye is as follows:

  • Michael Ocobock 443 fish
  • Jeremy Heideman 330 fish
  • Nick Harrington 309 fish
  • Hank Asher 126 fish
  • Brian Blackwell 76 fish
  • Herbert Leuthe 65 fish
  • Seth Malsom 53 fish
  • Jesse Curnow 52 fish
  • Riley Sprouse 46 fish
  • Tom Wanttie 45 fish

There’s been 104 anglers entered in the event, with over 1,500 fish submitted. This all will provide valuable fisheries management information to South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks biologists upon the completion of the event. This information will then be made available for anglers as well.

Time is running out to get your fish submitted, so now is the last chance for anglers to get out on the water and try to find that one big bite to capture the top spot!
