There is a new opportunity waiting in many South Dakota State Parks this year, with anglers targeting special reward tagged fish on many local fisheries.
South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks (GFP) fisheries biologists have tagged thousands of fish across the state, with many being released into small ponds and dams within parks and recreation areas.

Tagged fish have been released into:
- Richmond;
- Cochrane;
- Snake Creek Pond;
- Hipple Lake;
- Oahe Dam Sub impoundment;
- Lake Louise;
- Lake Yankton;
- Herman Park Pond;
- Center Lake; and,
- Sylvan Lake.
Tagged fish include all species, ranging from walleye to largemouth bass to bluegill to rainbow trout and everything in between. Look for the reward tag streamer near the dorsal fin to know if you’ve got a reward fish!

If you are fortunate to catch one of these reward fish, turn in your tag, the tagged fish, or a picture of the tagged fish to your local park office to receive a Make a Splash t-shirt!
Make a Splash is this year’s theme in South Dakota State Parks, which covers everything from boating, swimming, kayaking, and of course fishing!

Whether you are looking to spend a relaxing evening or a weeklong vacation, be sure to check out what South Dakota State Parks have to offer and try your luck at catching one of these tagged fish!
