We’re approximately one month into the Midwest Walleye Challenge for South Dakota, and the leaderboard is continuing to grow! After two busy weeks of fishing, we take a look at where things currently stand!
“I did my best to keep up with getting my fish uploaded these last couple weeks and did overall pretty well,” said Nick Harrington, Owner of Lip Ripper Fishing. “The only night I really missed uploading them was our recent Tuesday Night League, because the fish were coming in so fast and we were on short time when the flurry began so I did miss about 15-20 uploads there.”
Despite the missed uploads Tuesday, Harrington continues to hold the top spot in the total fish leaderboard.
- Nick Harrington 125
- Michael Ocobock 85
- Hank Asher 43
- Jeremy Heideman 43
- Seth Malsom 40
- Riley Sprouse 32
- David Blaha 7
- Aaron Koski 6
- Kevin Wittmeier 6
- Tom Heier 5
- Michael Shinstine 5
In total 29 anglers have registered at least one fish, and 94 participants are currently enrolled in the event. The big fish leaderboard continues to be anyone’s game as well!
“I need to up my game for the longest walleye leaderboard, there’s been some really nice fish submitted,” continued Harrington. “The spawn is wrapping up, and I think we’re going to see some really nice fish start coming into the leaderboard soon!”
The top ten currently looks like:
- Hunter Halverson 26.5 inches
- Zachary Schwartz 22 inches
- Kevin Holter 21.7 inches
- Jeremy Heideman 21 inches
- Jeremy Friebel 21 inches
- Jesse Curnow 20.2 inches
- Michael Ocobock 20 inches
- Nick Harrington 19.5 inches
- Tobie Hieb 19.5 inches
- Aaron Koski 19 inches
While the leaderboards are fun to watch, the individual data is extremely interesting for anglers as well!
“I love that it shows my individual data, waypoints, and trip details within the app,” concluded Harrington. “This is a really useful app for any angler, I’ve found it beneficial beyond just the event.”
Harrington’s individual stats include details such as:
- 100 walleyes caught on Lake Sharpe;
- 34 walleyes caught on Lake Francis Case; and,
- Submissions include 62% walleye and 38% sauger.
