The Midwest Walleye Challenge is officially underway, with the event kicking off Tuesday, April 1. Fortunately, there is still time to get registered and get out on the water!

This is South Dakota’s first year in this event, which is hosted by Anglersatlas.com and the MyCatch app. The event runs from April 1 – June 29.

“I’m extremely excited for this event, and I’m looking forward to competing against my fellow anglers,” said Nick Harrington, Owner of Lip Ripper Fishing. “The more anglers we have involved and the more data we provide, the more beneficial this program will be for our fisheries managers!”

The goal of this event is to compile data on the walleye fisheries across the Midwest, and share this information with South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks (GFP) fisheries biologists. This means sharing all trips, catches, and other information is key to make this successful.

“I’m challenging myself to submit every fish I catch this spring, there’s going to be no secrets coming from me!” continued Harrington. “I hope my fellow anglers follow along on my Instagram, fishing reports, and compete against me in the event as well!”

The event is $25 to enter, and once the first outing is entered participants will receive a $20 gift card from Discount Tackle.

“It’s really that easy,” concluded Harrington. “Sign up, fish, submit your walleyes, and win!”
