One of the best trophy walleye fisheries in the country, Lake Oahe, is set to take center stage as summer begins. In the fourth stop of the season, the Masters Walleye Circuit (MWC) will be visiting Mobridge, South Dakota. The event will take place May 30-31, 2025.
“We’ve seen some incredible weights come from early summer Mobridge tournaments,” said Nick Harrington, Owner of Lip Ripper Fishing. “This time of year is when the spawn is complete and fish are transitioning down the reservoir, with many staying in the Mobridge area as well, which sets up for an interesting event overall.”
Lake Oahe is an expansive reservoir, stretching from Bismarck, North Dakota to Pierre, South Dakota.
“The Mobridge area features an abundance of areas to fish, which includes the Grand River and Moreau River,” continued Harrington. “This is one of the best places to catch both a limit of quality slot fish, as well as trophy caliber fish.”
In recent years Lake Oahe has featured numerous trophy-caliber fish, including many between 13-15 pounds, including breaking the state record twice in 2023.
“This is one of those events that requires consistency, but can also be turned upside down by one big bite,” concluded Harrington. “The City of Mobridge is a fantastic host, and we look forward to seeing what Lake Oahe has in store for this event!”
