The South Dakota Governor’s Bass Cup will be returning again for 2024! This will be the third year of this tournament, which showcases the terrific smallmouth bass fishery present on Lake Oahe.

This year’s tournament will take place June 1-2. The entry fee is $450 per team.

The tournament is limited to 100 teams, which is why registering early is important to secure your spot in the event.

Anglers will launch out of Spring Creek Recreation Area on to Lake Oahe and may fish anywhere along the reservoir, but are limited to one tank of gas. Fueling on the water is not allowed.

This is a catch-and-release tournament and anglers may weigh their best six each day. Both smallmouth and largemouth bass may be weighed. Bass must be at least 12 inches to be weighed. Culling is allowed for bass in South Dakota, but no dead fish may be culled.

Each angler is allowed one line in the water at a time and must utilize artificial baits only. No live bait will be allowed.

The rules meeting will take place Friday, May 31 at 7:00 p.m. CT at AmericInn Conference Center in Fort Pierre. All anglers are required to attend this rules meeting with registration beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Now is the time for anglers interested in fishing this event to get their registration completed and make plans to fish the 2024 South Dakota Governor’s Bass Cup.
