Wow! It has been quite the past few months. In February, I announced that 2020 Guide Trips were available, since then a lot has changed! As a shade of normalcy attempts to return to our lives, I want to do my part to help us all return to normal. To do this, I am offering a $50 “Normal” discount. Simply give me a call/text at 402-689-9947 and tell me you want a “normal day on the water” and we’ll make it happen.
I want your trip to be as normal as possible, but I want to make sure you are comfortable and safe as well. I’ll have hand sanitizer in the boat and also will work with you regarding transportation to the launch. You are able to climb into my truck and ride with me to the launch or meet me there, whichever you are most comfortable with. If there is anything else I can do to make your trip more comfortable, please feel free to reach out to me!
Now let’s talk about the fun stuff! In February, I commented that I had a new Lund 1875 Pro Guide ordered. In May I got the call from my friends at Algona Marine the boat had arrived and was ready to hit the water!
The boat is fully broken in and has proven to be a fish catcher too!
Speaking of catching fish, that has been going pretty well too! Lake Sharpe has produced some excellent fishing for us. We’ve caught fish a variety of ways, but bottom bouncing and trolling crankbaits has been the top options.
For bottom bouncing, plain rigs have produced the best. A simple hook and bead or a small Smile Blade has been the ticket. The transition from minnows to nightcrawlers is underway, but fish are still being caught on both.
Trolling small, shad-style crankbaits has also been producing well. Color selection can vary each day, but a mix of blues, purples, greens and whites has been best. Continue to cycle through baits until you can find what the fish are preferring.
For my white bass loving friends, the bite has been insane along LaFramboise Island in Pierre. Shallow running crankbaits have been the most successful.
We’ve even stumbled into a couple pike in the process!
It’s been a crazy few months, but we’re certainly fortunate to live where we’ve been able to fish and enjoy our outdoor resources throughout this time of uncertainty. I hope you are able to get out and enjoy and I’d love to have you in the boat with me.
If you have any questions or there is anything I can do for you, please don’t hesitate to ask. Until then-take care, stay safe and good fishing!
